World Book Day Celebration
Take a look at this compilation of pictures from World Book Day which was on 3rd March. Lots of fun was had and lots of books read! This year we had a focus on maths in stories. Each class discovered maths within their chosen book. Maths can be an abstract subject but using a book helps to bring it to life and make it seem "real" and more accessible for everyone!
Our resident artist Nicola has also been painting in the library. Can you spot the characters?
Time and Spellings 8.2.21
Koalas have been learning how to tel the time on an analogue clock.
Here is some spelling work for prefixes. This Koala has found lots of other words which begin with the prefix "super"
Division 3.2.21
Koalas have been doing short division. They can divide a two digit number by a single digit.
Great work!
King of Koalas! 3.2.21
Wow look how hard this Koala worked yesterday.
A Fairtrade comic strip of the story of bananas, estimating the weight of bananas in kg and g, then weighing them to see if they were correct, conjunctions and fronted adverbials! Followed by an activity "Express Yourself" for mental health week.
What a great day of learning.
Mental Health Week 2.2.21
The theme this year is all about expressing ourselves.
We can express ourselves in lots of ways: talking, smiling, through music or by what we wear.
These people express themselves through art. Take a look.
Chinese New Year 2.2.21
In 2021, Chinese New Year will take place on 12th February. Each year of the Calendar represents one of the 12 zodiac animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. 2021 marks the Year of the Ox.
We are so lucky at The Fen Rivers Academy because Miss T used to live in China and her friend has made a video for us about the Chinese New Year. You can watch it below!
Measuring in cm and mm 1.2.21
This Koala has learnt how to accurately measure in cm and mm. They have taken their learning a step further by measuring their toys and thigs round the house! A true mathematician!
Children's Mental Health Week is taking place on 1-7 February 2021. This year's theme is Express Yourself.

Sensory 25.1.21
This student from Koalas has set up his own sensory room at home.
He's enjoying dancing, playing the piano with his feet and watching the disco ball lights.
He has also enjoyed baking and particularly likes to stir the mixture.
Phonics 25.1.21
Koalas have been learning their phonics.
Phonics is a way of teaching children how to read and write. It helps children hear, identify and use different sounds that distinguish one word from another in the English language.
Written language can be compared to a code, so knowing the sounds of individual letters and how those letters sound when they’re combined will help children decode words as they read.
Spell your name 20.1.21
Wow! Look what this member of Koalas has done.
He wrote his name and then the exercises to match.
I bet that was fun!
Wanted!!!!!! 19.1.21
Look at this Wanted poster.... Have you seen them anywhere?
I am sure I'd remember if I had.......
Science 19.1.21
Look at the amazing science that one member of Koalas has been doing!
They have learnt about solids, liquids and gases. Can you identify a solid? Liquid? Gas?
Also work has been done on food chains. What would eat a caterpillar? What would eat a bird?
Cheese and Ham Mini Quiches
Cooking 18/01/21
There are two ways to make quiche……the convenient way or the long way.
Challenge yourself this week to make fully homemade quiche.

We all love Joe Wicks but what about an alternative?
Give this a try. Write your name on a piece of paper. You can choose just your first name or all your names.
Then do the exercises for each letter.
Want a challenge? Then spell your whole address!!!!
Let's get fit with Team Fen!

Every week at Fen Rivers, we have the opportunity to take part in Forest Schools.
Nicola plans some amazing lessons for us and while we are in lockdown, she didn't want us to miss out!
Have at look at the brilliant stuff she has. I love the matchbox challenge. I wonder how many things you can find to go in yours?
